Opal is new member of the Crystal Gems, after she was discovered while bubbled, by another unknown gem. Opal was one of the greatest rebellion generals in the Great Gem War, until she was defeated and bubbled by an opposing Homeworld gem. As mentioned before, she has since be indebted to the Crystal Gems and has joined their ranks as a respected member.

Opal is a very beautiful gem, with nearly everyone she meets, gem or otherwise, exclaiming that she took their breaths away when they first saw her. Unlike most gems, however, Opal is much smaller than average, standing at a measly 4'11", and weighing it at 126 pounds. This small size leads her to have a very compact body, with wide hips, small waist, and an admirable bust size. A noticeable feature of Opal's is her beautiful light pink hair, that is very smooth and silky, and falls down to her shoulders in curls. A portion of her hair falls onto the left side of her face, covering it completely, and is decorated with various flowers of different colors. Opal has light baby-blue skin, and large plump lips, as well as blank white eyes. The fact that Opal does not have any coloration in her irises causes some to think badly of her, which is the reason she keeps her eyes shut at all times, instead using her aerokinesis to detect air waves and move around. In terms of an outfit, Opal prefers to wear a kimono-style wrapped dress, with the left side being a light lilac in coloration, with multiple stars of varying sizes lining down the center, and the right side being a light turquoise, and much shorter than the left. Under this, she wears a long flowing white gown with golden trim, the same as the kind she wears around her waist as a belt. The sleeves of the kimono are extremely large, and almost reach down to the bottom of the kimono itself. It should also be noted that Opal does not wear shoes, because she is always levitating as a result of her aerokinesis.
