"Coal" is not a gem yet a group of gems that have the same stone, which is Anthracite Coal. All have similar facial and characteristics because of their mass production. While the mass production of coal workers allowed a surplus of workers, the brittle stone would also allow for easy corruptions during production, such as the Anthracite Renegade, or renegades
Much of their abilities are unknown, except for the known belief that they can span a limited number of copies from their gems.
Cold, and seemingly focused on the work at hand, they seem to be uncaring in that aspect, but merely depend on the Hive Mind to do decide if they should have their own, which they do, but is usually covered by a cold placement.
