"Amorous Amalgam" is the 5th episode of the second season in Dawn Dusk Gems, and the 25th overall episode of the series.

Synopsis[]

Rhodo and Agate take their relationship to the next level.

Plot[]

Apatite: 31 days…. Are you kidding me?!

Moon: We can’t prepare in such short notice!

Apatite: This isn’t good...

Everyone is camped around in a circle. There’s a fire in the center of the circle to keep them warm, though they don’t need the warmth. However, Agate thought it was a cool idea and made them use logs as seats and sit by a cozy camp fire. Agate had his arm around Rhodo, comforting him. He’s a bit frightened.

Rhodo: Agate… I’m a little scared…

Agate: She scared all of us…

Agate continues to cuddle with Rhodo. Idocrase sits next to Malachite and Moon. He turns to Moon and Apatite, who’s sitting next to Moon.

Idocrase: I thought Spinel was a Homeworld gem! How was she in the Dawn Dusk Gems?

Apatite: I don’t know…

Moon: My belief is that Corundum use his wicked mind-altering abilities on us… It’s overpowered and I don’t think he can control it.

Moon turns to Apatite.

Moon: And he forced it too much upon you...

Apatite sighs. She gets up and walks over to the temple door. Concerned, Moonstone stands up from her seat and walks over to Apatite, until she is told to stop.

Apatite: Stop.

Moonstone stands beside the campfire.

Moon: W-what?

Apatite: Put out the fire.

Moon: Apatite, we can talk about this. I’m sorry I-

Apatite: Now.

Moonstone pauses and everyone is silent. She nods her head still concerned.

Moon: … Okay, all right. I will.

Apatite: Good.

Apatite leaves and runs off into her room. The whole group just stares at the door and Moonstone blowing out the fire, still standing. She gets back into her seat and mostly everyone seems to be confused. They all turn to Moon.

Malachite; What was that about?

Moon: I think I said something that bothered her… Reminded her of something… Let’s not speak of it..

Moonstone looks down as everyone else gets up and walks away.

Agate: Well. I guess the campfire’s over!

Rhodo: Yeah, it was pretty fun!

The two laugh at each other, smiling. Malachite activates the door to her room.

Malachite: I’ll be makin’ cupcakes. Yall can join me if you want.

Larimar: I-I could come…

Malachite: ‘Course you can! You make killer cupcakes.

Larimar smiles and follows Malachite. Idocrase runs after them with his short legs. The temple door closes. Moonstone gets up and walks to the warp pad. Rhodo and Agate turn to her.

Rhodo: Moon, where are you-?

He’s interrupted.

Moon: A quiet place…

Moon warps away, looking saddened. Rhodo and Agate shrug and walk off. The two gems walk around the beach. The sun is setting and the sky is a beautiful hue of electric crimson. The waves are calm and the two are alone. Rhodo takes off his sneakers and sits down with Agate, watching the ocean. The sky gets darker and darker. Rhodo turns to Agate.

Rhodo: Hey… I’m just putting it out there, but…

Agate turns to Rhodo. Agate: Y-yeah?

Rhodo: … You’re a really nice guy.

Rhodo smiles and blushes, looking away. Agate laughs and blushes as well.

Agate: You’re not so bad either.

Agate puts his hand on Rhodo’s shoulder. Agate is surprised and they look at each other.

Rhodo: A-agate?

Agate: Y-yes?

There’s a slight pause between them as the get closer and closer.

Rhodo: Will you-

But he’s interrupted. Agate quickly grabs him and pulls Rhodo towards him, passionately kissing him on his soft lips. Rhodo is shocked, but adjusts and closes his eyes, enjoying the romantic moment. They stop and look at eachother.

Agate: That’s a yes.

They both laid down on the beach sands, falling asleep. Rhodo falls asleep on Agate's chest, Agate hugging him, both of them still blushing. They slept peacefully.

The view is pitch black. Nothing can be seen, but things can be heard. The waves crashing against the shore and the songs of the insects during night time. A blink or two is done and a figure sits up. He looks at his legs; they’re muscular and a rustic red color. He looks at his torso; he’s wearing a hoodie with a colorful neon cyan cross through it. His stomach has a rusty rose colored gem. He feels himself, that being his legs, his torso, his arms, and finally his face. He has a scruffy beard. His upper chest has a non faceted gem colored rusty rose, as well. He tries stands up.

???: Woah… What is this?

He feels a bit taller than he’s used to.

???: Wait, what?! Did.. Did we…

He looks at his arms.

???: Oh my gosh, we fused!

He realizes this immediately. Rhodo and Agate have fused to form a new gem, with only two arms.

???: We look amazing! And hot!

He starts flexing his arms, but stops. He starts laughing and smiles.

???: Haha, stop that you doof! What? I like have muscles! Haha!

They start running around, testing out their new form. They feel energetic and great. They run to the beach, having fun and enjoying themselves. The laugh and have fun. They’re genuinely happy. Suddenly, the temple door opens with Malachite, who’s holding a tray full of strawberry-topped cupcakes.

Malachite: RHODO! AGATE! GET YOUR BUTTS OVER HERE!

The fusion gem turns to the temple.

???: COMING!

Malachite raises an eyebrow.

Malachite: … Whose voice was that?

Suddenly, the fusion gem comes running towards Malachite. Malachite jumps in surprise as the gem runs in front of her. A gust of wind messes up Malachite’s hair as the fusion gem stops abruptly in front of her. She spits multiple times to get her hair out of her mouth and fixes her hair.

???: We’re here! What do you think?

Malachite: Oh. My. GOD!

???: … Is that a good reaction?

Malachite: YOU GUYS FUSED!

The large fusion blushes.

Malachite: Hm..

Malachite puts the tray of cupcakes down on the floor and activates her bracelet. She navigates through it and opens an application called “Gem Identifier”.

Malachite: Luckily, Sapphire installed this on my bracelet before I joined the team!

???: Huh. Neat.

Malachite scans the tall attractive gem. His hands are on his hips as the scanner emits a thin green light, hovering over his entire body. The scanner stops and Malachite reads the data.

Malachite: Your name is…. Taaffeite!

Taaffeite: Woah, that’s a cool name!

Malachite: Not for me! There’s literally no nicknames you can make for Taaffeite!

Taaffeite: Well, Agate thinks it’s a cool name!

Malachite: Well, I’ll just call you Big Beefy Bara.

Malachite laughs and Taaffeite raises an eyebrow.

Taaffeite: Rhodo, what’s bara?

Taaffeite thinks and waits for a second, then gasps.

Taaffeite: Oh!

Taaffeite looks at the cupcakes.

Taaffeite: Oooooh, cupcakes! Gimme!

Malachite: Nuh-uh! We gotta bring them outside so that everyone can eat them!

Malachite walks towards the campfire, placing the tray on the sandy floor. Taaffeite sits down on a log, twiddling his thumbs. Larimar and Idocrase step out of Malachite’s Room and the door closes. They walk towards the campfire, only to see Malachite eating a cupcake as well as Taaffeite waiting for the others to come and eat with him.

Larimar: Malachite, w-whose-?!

Malachite turns around.

Malachite: Oh, it’s just Rhodo and Agate mashed together!

Idocrase: They fused?! I knew that the new guy was gay!

Larimar smiles.

Larimar: Aw, that’s so cute!

Taaffeite smiles and scratches the back of his neck, tilting his head.

Malachite: Their name’s Taaffeite, but I just call them Big Beefy Bara.

Taaffeite: Please don’t.

Idocrase and Malachite laugh hysterically. Larimar just walks over to Malachite and sits next to her, grabbing a cupcake. Taaffeite and Idocrase grab cupcakes as well. She eats it quietly as Idocrase and Malachite eat theirs like pigs. Taaffeite eats a cupcake loudly as well, but he smiles when he gets to the middle.

Taaffeite: H-hey, is this cream filled?

Malachite: Yeah, thought you might like it, Rhodo!

Taaffeite blushes, but continues to eat the cupcakes anyway. Suddenly, Moonstone and Apatite warp back. Nobody has noticed that Apatite has even left, however. They’re shocked to see the fusion between Agate and Rhodochrosite.

Malachite: Yo, Apatite! Moon! When did you guys le-

Apatite: Who is that?! What is that?!

Malachite: Oh, it’s Rhodo and Agate-

Moon: They fused?!

Apatite: Aw, good god they’re still alive…

Everyone stops what they’re doing and turns to Apatite. They’re shocked by her comment. Taaffeite unfuses and Rhodo scratches his head.

Agate: What do you mean?...

Everyone looks nervous. Apatite sighs and sits down, as well as Moonstone. The fire is lit once again, burning a beautiful red flame.

Apatite: Listen, guys. You probably all forgot this but….

Malachite: Go on!

Apatite: Corundum was exiled not only because he was in a relationship with a gem Tiger’s Eye didn’t approve of, but…

There’s a pause.

Malachite: Keep going!

Apatite: He fused with said gem and Tiger’s Eye’s reaction….

She looked down.

Apatite: Let me tell you a story. All of you.

Agate: A story?

Apatite: Yeah. About how Corundum was exiled from the Dawn Dusk Gems. It’s all coming back to me now...
